As promised to Mr. Wong Jiahao a.k.a. Diego a.k.a. Zinaldo Marcos, I will give you 10 good reasons why West Ham United is unworthy of supportership, well supported with evidence. And evidence means statistics.

1) West Ham United was never a great football force in terms of results. Their best league position was 3rd in the First Division (the then Premier League) in the 1985-86 season. Other than this, they have no top league positions to boast of.

2) The Hammers have a fine reputation of being hammered. Even since the club has been established, they have been relegated 5 times from the English top league, namely 2002-03, 1991-92, 1988-89, 1977-78 and 1931-32 seasons.

3) Last season (2005-06), Alan Pardew brought the club to an incredible (9th position finish. It was an amazing performance given their average club record but to a neutral football fan, such results are mediocre. No one else except the Claret & Blue fans will appreciate this sort of results.

4) Although they qualified for this season’s UEFA cup, past statistics show that European glory won’t come by so easily for the Hammers. Their last impressive continental achievement was European Cup Winners Cup Winners: 1964-65.(they won the Intertoto Cup consolation prize in 1998-99)

5) Do you remember last season when West Ham United lost to Liverpool in the dramatic FA Cup Final? The FA Cup seems reluctant to move to Upton Park. They last brought it home during the 1979-80 season. That was ages ago.

6) West Ham United. Doesn’t it sound wrong? What’s the ham doing in the West? Maybe the Hammers should change their weird name to something else. Erm, like the West Side Kidz?

7) This is the ugly West Ham United jersey. The colours don’t seem to match, just like how the team doesn’t seem to click well.

8) WHUFC (stupidly long) can’t keep their players at Upton Park. They always want to leave that darn place. Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick and many other stars have all left the club to pursue their own dreams. Looks like Anton’s gonna follow his brother sooner or later.

9) No top striker. Marlon Harewood was the Hammers’ top scorer last season with 14 Premiership goals in 31(6) appearances. Looks like West Ham have problem scoring….

10) The Hammers should really call themselves the Hammered. They lost 4-1 to Bolton last season on 11 March 2006. Such results are common for the fans, especially since they have gone through a worse experience in club record defeat of 2-8 to Blackburn in 26-12-1963.

So do you still think West Ham United will ever become one of the top clubs? Well, think again.

(please remember to come back tomorrow, there's Tuesday Reds Review)
